# Fire a pipeline on a schedule or on demand :::note This tutorial is a stub. The mechanisms it covers are documented today under [Schedule triggers](/triggers/schedule) and [Manual triggers](/triggers/manual). ::: A pipeline runs automatically on a `schedule:` cron expression, and any pipeline runs on demand whether or not it declares one. A scheduled pipeline can be fired immediately, outside its cron, with `bento trigger schedule `; any pipeline fires with `bento trigger fire `. This lesson will contrast the two end to end.
